I feel honoured to be asked by a friend to make a cake for her customer.
I have made a lot of cakes, but all the times I am making cakes for my friends and relatives. So this is a first for me.
And I have quite a lot of freedom on the flavour of the cake. Since strawberries are nice and juicy and are on sale, That is the obvious choice.
The cake itself is a simple sponge cake with strawberry gelee and bavarian cream filling. To make the cake more travel friendly, I have lined the sides of the cake with sponge cake. Since the birthday boy is a vet, I piped the cake batter with dog paws before I send them to the oven. The cake is then decorated with dog paw sugar cookies and a chocolate birthday tag.
This is really time consuming with the intricate logo design copied from the vet clinic that the doctor owned.
I have made parts of the cakes separately and never together. All my cakes are seasonal and have a surprise everytime.
Hope my clients like it.
Now it's time for me to dip my dry hands in loads of hand lotion and vitamin E and call it the day.
Wow... Cherry... this is a fantastic job. You should be proud of yourself!
ReplyDeleteHow did you do the dog paws? They are so cute!
I drew the dog paws by hand using cigarette paste. Consistency is a bit of a contrast from the sponge cake. Need to work on that a bit.
ReplyDeleteThose paws are so perfect! What a great little detail and a really nice touch.
